Project call out:

HOW VACCINES AND PANDEMIC MITIGATION ARE CRITICAL FOR THE SURVIVAL OF THOSE WHO REQUIRE LONG-TERM HEALTHCARE

Fund Recipient: MICHAELA SKOVRANOVA
Location: Greater Sydney / NSW / Australia

I am looking for participants for my latest project documenting the impacts of COVID-19 on access to health care for vulnerable communities.

This project explores the long terms effects that COVID-19 and lockdowns have on the healthcare system and the people who depend on it. Nearly 50% of Australians suffer from chronic health conditions which are the leading cause of illness, disability and death in Australia. About 18% of the population live with a disability with First Nations Peoples experiencing disproportionately higher rates of health conditions than other groups.

The goal of this project is to shed light on the complex needs of people suffering from long term health conditions, during the pandemic and beyond, services we should look at implementing long term to improve accessibility and how a successful vaccine rollout and additional safety measures are crucial for not only people who suffer from COVID-19 but also the 50% of the population whose health and life depends on a functioning medical system.

As someone who heavily relies on medical care this project is very close to my heart. I am looking to share diverse stories and experiences across Greater Sydney and beyond. Both the good, ( such as increased access to Telehealth Services ) the complex and the difficult.

The project will be documented in form of a photo essay and accompanied by a written interview. If you would like to learn more please email mish@mishku.com.au Please share this with anyone that may be interested.
