who needs this?

I don’t think I have in the recent year blogged so much. Weekends away, or trips of some kind have that effect on me. I hope it lasts - I hate letting my blog go.

I woke up feeling really disoriented, I couldn’t sleep at all, and I felt horrible - I got some weird pain in my shoulder which now is thankfully gone. Didn’t have coffee in the morning - but I wrote about that on Facebook already so I won’t regurgitate, but in short, I had a bad coffee experience yesterday which made me fearful of having coffee this morning.

Once I went to see my hairdresser/shrink everything fell into place and all is right with the world. She made me a kick-ass cup of coffee which didn’t make me nutty, and she gave me The World’s Greatest Haircut. That’s right. I have it. She also gave me cake and a web design job, so I feel like my head is screwed back on.

Because I’m such a narcissist I count things in thirteens.

13 hours since….
13 days since….
13 weeks since….

It’s been 13 months since she died and I didn’t think I would miss her.
It’s weird like that.
The pain never really goes away.

… rip out those Sarah McLachlan tracks. They’ve been shelved for way too long.

I tend to get stuck in music ruts. The weekend away allowed me to listen to tracks I would normally skip for something comfortable and predictable. However some ruts are good to go back to. Oh, Sarah, how I have missed you. You helped me through some tough times.

I probably have more to say, but I’m tired, something is wrong with my hand, I have diabetes (I swear), anxiety, bone cancer, ocd and something else I’m sure. In the words of my friend Dom, “You’ll be pushing shit uphill for ages”, “And if we did and it was, so what?”… actually I think I said that.

Not. So. Thinking. Good. Lately.

Plus, it would have been nice not only to wash my sheets, but put them on for me.

Oh, and I almost forgot. I have extreme “oh shit I’m starting school in 8 days” anxiety. Extreme. Major. McMajor. This is it.

I have never before stopped a movie halfway to write a post but I can’t help it. It’s just so ridiculous, and I have a real problem with movies being completely unrealistic.

So, I’m a sucker for a good movie. I’m big on art house cinema, indie films, international and even some of the big budget Oscar winners. However, all that thinking and insight makes my head hurt sometimes and I just want to sit back and watch something lighthearted and silly.

“Because I Said So” is the movie I am watching, and I’m not going to sit here and talk about it, click on the link and read about it if you want. Just to give you a tag line - an overbearing, divorced mother (Diane Keaton) of 3 adult-ish daughters (Mandy More, Lauren Graham and some chick who’s not big enough for me to remember her name) does stupid shit overbearing shit.

One scene made me pause and want to write about it. The mother has just finished a conference call with her children and has realised they all have someone to make out with (upstairs and downstairs - their words not mine), and she decides to go on the computer and find a date. Like on Adult Matchmaker.

This is the second time during this movie that she has done this and each time a porn movie comes up. And her PC freezes. For the second time. And the phone rings during this debaucle. For the second time.

Now, you’d think that the scene repetition would be enough to piss any movie watcher off, and the fact that I don’t see what Match Maker websites have to do with graphic porn, but on top of that she’s banging on the keyboard, obviously embarrased people can hear the noises from the porn scene, and I ask only this. WHY DON’T YOU TURN OFF THE FUCKING SPEAKERS? Why must you bang on the keyboard, which you, as a veteran PC user should know, won’t do anything. The one step solution for embarrasing noises is the fucking speakers. If all else fails, TURN THE PC OFF.

I don’t like dumb movies.

For me it’s always about the little details. If they can’t get that right, they have no business trying to entertain the smarter percentage of the population.

Cowardice are the ones who cannot stand by their word. And shit. What is it with people using z instead of s? It looks tacky people. Communication is the key. If you cannot communicate well, no one will listen.

In that light, I present a wonderful book list of titles obtained by moi at the DFO on Bulla Rd. Books everyone should read, especially those who can’t read and write so well, good, proper. Practise makes perfect people. Seriously. I didn’t even know they had a bookshop at the DFO, because I haven’t been to a factory outlet since the late 90s, but alas, they do. And they had all the most recent editions of classics that I’ve wanted to get my hands on. Some of them I have read before, some not, but now I own my own copies at about $5 a pop. At Borders they go for anywhere between $15-$30.
